Two goals in the first 23 minutes by Soren Larsen and another by Morten Nordstrand a minute from time were enough for Denmark to triumph over Malta and maintain its comfortable lead in Group One of the World Cup Qualifiers today.

Larsen found the net in the 12th and the 23rd minutes and Nordstrand added a third in the 89th minute.

The Maltese otherwise held their own, although the visitors came close to scoring with a long range shot by Rommedahl and a header by Borring, both in the second half, which were blocked by Maltese goalkeeper Haber.

The best chance from Malta when an effort by Cohen was saved by the Danish gaoler in the 82nd minute.

Malta also had two penalty appeals turned down in the first half.
