Why all the fuss about Sharon Ellul Bonici's candidature for the EP elections? Why do some people find it weird that a Euro-sceptic would want to be an MEP?

What makes a good MEP? Are the lets-bash-Sharon (to get her elected and so confirm the Labour Party's supposedly persistent anti-EU stand) brigade aware that this election is not some kind of payback time for those who carry EU flags in their handbags and pockets but a calculated and wise choice for those who can represent the Maltese and stand up to be counted when needed? We need MEP's who can get results like Joseph Muscat (former MEP) and Simon Busuttil (Nationalist MEP) not those who are there because they're probably popular in some kazin where they drink tea and read the party paper every morning or because they're some kind of blinfolded Europhile!
