President Barack Obama will travel to France on June 6 to attend commemorations of the World War II D-Day landings, the French presidency said yesterday.

Mr Obama will travel to the Normandy coast for events marking the 65th anniversary of the allied invasion, said President Nicolas Sarkozy's chief of staff Claude Gueant.

The US president will be returning to France two months after, attending a Nato summit in Strasbourg and at Kehl, across the border in Germany on April 3 and 4.
