Obituary

ATTARD. On March 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH (Ciancio) of Valletta, aged 64, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Anna, his three children Cordelia, Jason and Melvin and their families, his grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Valletta, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CORNES. On March 19, at his residence in Marsaxlokk, EVAN JOHN, passed away peacefully, aged 72. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Pamela, his son Joseph and his wife Mandy, his daughter Catherine and her husband Gavin, his stepson Paul and his girlfriend Louise, his brother Murray and his wife Jenny, nieces and nephews, all family and friends in the US, Malta, Spain and the UK. The funeral leaves his residence tomorrow at 12.45 p.m. for St Paul Anglican Cathedral, Valletta, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. followed by interment at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun.

DARMANIN. On March 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, FRANCIS X., of Senglea, residing at Sliema, aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Victoria and her husband John Camilleri, his beloved grandchildren Lorelle and Valenteen, his brother Tony and his wife M'Agnes, his sisters Sr. Josephine, Sr. Fausta and Sr. Monica, Sisters of Charity, his sister-in-law Maria, in-laws, nephews and nieces, all their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Victories Basilica, Senglea, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SALOMONE REYNAUD. On March 25, at Gozo General Hospital, HELEN, aged 57, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss Ewen, Mary Rose and her husband Noel, John and his wife Josette, her nephews and nieces Simon, Alison, Andrew, Gavin, Lynne and Rebecca, her cousins and her numerous friends in Malta and Gozo. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. for St Paul's church, Marsalforn, Gozo, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m., followed by interment at St Mary's Cemetery, Xewkija, limits of Rabat. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SPITERI. On March 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAULINE of Qormi, residing at Villa Messina, Rabat, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her son Lino and his wife Vivienne, her beloved grandchildren Noelle and her husband Roger, Bertrand and his partner Shona, Lara and her husband Patrick, and Lincoln and his wife Natalie; her great-grandchildren Valentina, Matthias, Andrea, Zachary, Samara, Jake and Jade, her sister Anne, her nephews and nieces and their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for St Sebastian parish church, Qormi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, or Puttinu Cares (Children's Cancer Support Group), Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

WALSH. Monica of Bradford, West Yorkshire on March 21 in her 101st year, former teacher at St Edward's College, beloved sister of Madeleine. God give her eternal rest.

French speaking

People working in Valletta can brush up their French conversation skills by discussing current affairs during classes organised by the Alliance Francaise and the Valletta council.

The course starts on April 6 and will be held between 1 and 2 p.m. at the council's offices in 31, South Street, Valletta. The course lasts 10 weeks and costs €80.
