More road works on Manuel Dimech Bridge

Barely a year after it was reopened to traffic following a three-year reconstruction project surrounded by controversy, road works will be in progress on the Manuel Dimech Bridge in St Julians tomorrow.
The Malta Transport Authority said the work will be carried out on the carriageway leading to Paceville and was expected to be completed by 4 p.m. It has asked one of the contractors to level the bump on the part that joins the road to the bridge. Traffic will not be affected.
The bridge, which was originally meant to cost €6 million, was reopened to traffic last April, €2.3 million over budget and after several delays and missed deadlines.
The controversy surrounding the project reached new heights just some time after completion when Transport Minister Austin Gatt asked the police to investigate suspected fraud in the certification of the work carried out on the bridge. No other announcements had been made since.

We inherited this from the British I'm afraid! They take ages to finish a project and the bill double and triples, and then people discover that the work is shoddily done!

B'xorti hazina li kuntratt jintrebah bi stima u wara x-xoghol jiswa bil-bosta iktar moda u mhux Malta biss. L-istorja tac-certifikat bil-bosta iktar serja ghax jekk qatt inhareg certifikat mhux sewwa, jista' jfisser li sar xoghol bazwi li jwassal ghal iktar infieq mit-taxxi tal-haddiem barra r-riskju ghal min juza l-pont. Serja wkoll ghax jekk tassew kien hemm nuqqaqsijiet, nistenna li l-Qrati jibghatu lil xi hadd il-habs u fit-tul
