Historic chapel restored
Photo: Omar Camilleri, Department of Information.
The chapel of Our Saviour in Kalkara has been restored to its former glory after months of extensive works on both its interior and exterior. The existing chapel was built by Fra Giovanni Bichi, based on the original designs by Lorenzo Gafà in 1651, after the first chapel was destroyed during the Great Siege.

I hope that the Kalkara Parish Priest will make good use of the restored chapel and have mass services offered for the people (especially the elderly) living in the area as many of them do not go to Kalkara Parish Church since it's either down and then up a steep hill (Rinella Street) or down and up the steps in St Philomena street apart from the numerous steps of the church parvis.

Excellent and congratulations to all concerned. I know it is a long shot, but how about restoration of all the Chapels that we have around Malta and Għawdex and using them at least once a week to keep them in good condition?
