Alex Borg, Duncan Bezzina and Simon Zammit will play Germany in the quarter-finals of the European Teams Championships, currently being played in St Petersburg, Russia.
The Malta A trio completed their Group B commitments in style late on Monday after beating Poland 13-5 to finish first and maintain their 100 per cent record in the group after nine matches.
Germany finished fourth in Group A, pipping the Malta B team to the quarter-finals on frame difference after both sides had finished equally on 11 points.
In their last match, Malta B (Mario Brincat, Clayton Castaldi and Duncan Pisani) beat Cyprus 12-6. However, Germany went through after having the better of Russia B 13-5.
The quarter-finals will be played this morning. The semi-finals are scheduled for the afternoon session.
In the Masters competition, the Malta team composed of Tony Mifsud and Peter Tonna were through to the last 16 but were eventually ousted by Ireland 5-4 yesterday.
In the U-19 Championship, Aaron Busuttil, Shaun Sultana, Matthias Mallia and Thurston Grixti made it to the KO stages of the tournament. However, all four were eliminated in the Last 32 with similar 0-3 scorelines.
