Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici has ruled out an amnesty or reduced prison sentences to mark the appointment of a new President on April 4.

Speaking on PBS last night, the minister said the government intended to present the White Paper on the introduction of parole for debate in Parliament, before the actual Bill is moved.

Next year he expects to move legislative proposals on electronic tagging and on a register of paedophiles.
