The cost of Mepa's acquisition of the temporary emphyteusis on Hexagon House, in Marsa, was €4,258,094.57 (Lm1,828,000), Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Roderick Galdes (PL) in reply to a parliamentary question.

The sum was financed to the tune of €1,164,686.70 (Lm500,000) from the authority's own funds, and the remaining €3,093,407.87 (Lm1,328,000) came from a loan from the community parking fund (CPPS), which should be paid back into the scheme within four years.

Answering comments by Leo Brincat (PL), Dr Gonzi said he had no reports of any malaise in Mepa employees working at Hexagon House. Any such complaint would be investigated, he added.
