Shaun Parnis will represent Malta at this year's World Championships which will be played at the Warilla Bowling Club, Sydney, between next Friday and Monday.
In all, bowlers from 21 countries will be taking part.
Parnis, who hails from the NSW Maltese Bowlers Social Club, is coached by Troy Sommerville.
He was drawn to play in Group One along with bowlers from Malaysia, China, South Africa, Ireland, Singapore, India, Australia, Thailand, Spain and Japan.
Brunei, Canada, Fiji, Guernsey, Hong Kong, S. Korea, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Scotland and the United States are in Group Two.
Sommerville is an accomplished bowler himself having just won the 2009 South Pacific Pairs.
He led Parnis to an intensive training camp ahead of the worlds that included fitness sessions, with indoor football also in programme, and sessions at different venues from the Warilla Bowling Complex.
Meanwhile, the Malta Lawn Bowls Association is urging those who qualify to represent the country on the international scene to make contact with the organisation.
The association wants to assemble a squad for next year's Commonwealth Games in India.
