Mr Zammit Lupi managed, in my humble opinion, to catch the "moment".
It shows an AFM soldier in beautiful focus showing the spirit of Maltese hospitality and duty by giving a female immigrant, with her respectful smile, directions to wherever she wanted to go. The statue of George Borg Olivier in the background in all his coppery-black splendour, with the out-of-focus church façade behind, adds to the palette of this beautifully composed photo.
An out-of-focus scarfed head of a person in the foreground adds to the "moment" by showing that the trigger was pressed in haste. Surely this enhances the scene more as does the child playing on Castille's steps. No amount of studio time would have composed such a scene as even the lighting conditions were right!
I wish that I will be as lucky one day to be at the right place at the right time, with bulky equipment in hand and be as wise as Mr Zammit Lupi was and manage to catch such a "moment". Well done, Darrin!
