The Drug Squad have arrested six people during anti-trafficking operations at Marsaskala and Safi.
The first operation was on Thursday when four people - a 35-year-old Maltese from Marsascala and three Nigerians aged between 26 and 34, residing in Marsascala, Marsaxlokk and Zejtun, were arrested.
One of the Nigerians, who pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in court yesterday, was seen entering a place of entertainment in Marsascala and throwing two packets of cocaine on the floor.
His vehicle and his residence were searched and cocaine capsules, electronic scales and cash were found.
Further searches were carried out in another two apartments in Marsxlokk and Marsascala where another sophisticated electronic scales, more cash and other items related to trafficking, including a substance mixed with cocaine before this is sold, were found
More than €36,000 in cash were seized.
The Safi operation was carried out yesterday morning.
The police stopped a 33-year-old man from Ghaxaq at around 9 a.m. and searched his 33-year-old girlfriend’s residence finding 25 packets of heroin ready to be sold.
The two were arrested and the man was arraigned this morning.
Investigations are continuing.
