CIAPPARA. On March 20, at Karin Grech Hospital, FRANCIS of Vittoriosa, aged 84, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Rose, née Caruana, his son Emmanuel and his wife Tanya, his daughters Maria, Josette, Anna and her husband Joe Curmi, his brother Charles, his grandchildren Sarah, Roberto, Sandro, Nadia, Marta, Sonia and Roberta, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for the church of the Annunciation (St Dominic), Vittoriosa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

DISTEFANO. On March 19, HENRY WALTER, aged 76, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Nadya, Corinne and her husband Timmy Camilleri and Michele and her husband David Vella and his adored grandchildren Becky, Jonathan, Chris and Benji, his sisters Yvonne, Lillian and her husband Victor Buhagiar, his in-laws Rose, widow of Frank, Rose, widow of Arthur and Lawrence, widower of Marcelle and Emma, widow of Michael Pizzuto and Therese Darmenia Grech, nephews and nieces, other relative and friends. The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at the St Maria Addolorata Cemetery (through the back entrance). No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

MIFSUD. On March 19, at Ward M4, Karin Grech Hospital, CHARLES, aged 76, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted wife Ruth, his loving sons Peter and his wife Antoinette, Ian and his wife Victoria, Rupert and his wife Audrey and Marc, his grandchildren Analise, Rebekah, Jessica, Luc and Ann, his sisters Antonia and Maria, his in-laws Laura and her husband Edgar, his nephews and nieces and their families, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. for the Attard parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.15 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Treasure hunts in Mellieħa

A treasure hunt by car around Mellieħa will take place tomorrow to raise funds for the village feast in September. Each team must be made up of four people and participation costs €20 per team. The hunt will start at the main square at 1.30 p.m. The event is being organised by the Mellieħa Fireworks Association.

A walking treasure hunt for youngsters aged between 12 and 17 will be held simultaneously. Teams must be made up of five members and participation costs €3 per person.

The Stray Animals Support Group has opened its second charity shop in Qawra Road, Qawra.

Courses in arts, crafts, music

The next term of courses organised by the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce will begin on April 13, rather than April 6 as previously announced.

Those interested in applying for any of the arts, crafts and music courses may still do so by March 30.

First Aid courses

The Red Cross will be running courses in basic first aid and child first aid at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, Floriana.

The one in basic first aid will take place on March 30 and April 1, 7 and 8 between 5 and 8.30 p.m.

The one in child first aid will take place on April 6 between 4.30 and 8 p.m.

Book donation

A selection of text books about design and video and photo editing have been donated to the College of Arts, Science and Technology's Institute of Art and Design by the Bank of Valletta.

In the past two years, the bank has donated more than €12,000 worth of text books to the college.

Catechesis on St Paul

The Missionary Society of St Paul will continue its monthly catechesis on St Paul on April 6 at 7.30 p.m. at St Joseph's Institute, Sta Venera.

Donation

The Helping Hands Foundation has just donated about €20,000 to the Eden and Razzett Foundaton. In total, the foundation has donated over €500,000 to local organisations.
