The Malta Shooting Sport Federation organised two competitions yesterday, skeet and double trap, as part of its process to select the shooters that will represent Malta in next June's GSSE in Cyprus. A spate of impressive scores were registered, including six ISSF MQS.

Clive Farrugia was the winner of the skeet competition after hitting a remarkable 139 clays from 150 - an ISSF MQS. Paul Vella also obtained an ISSF MQS when hitting 136 to place second ahead of Darren Vella, 134.

In double trap, William Chetcuti underlined his dominance in the discipline when compiling scores of 49, 46 and 48 to achieve an ISSF MQS on way to winning the competition with a total of 143 from 150 clays.

There were three other shooters who managed an ISSF MQS, namely Derek Bonanno who was a distant second on 124, Nathan Lee Xuereb (123) and Matthew Grech (122).

The next selection shoot will be held this weekend with competitors gunning for the Breda Cup.
