Parole white paper welcomed
The Mid-Dlam ghad-Dawl Foundation this evening welcomed the white paper on parole but pointed out that this was not being offered to foreign prisoners.
Director-general Charles Cassar told a news conference held in front of the Justice Ministry that the organisation would soon be presenting its own parole proposals. He also spoke on the foundation's work last year pointing out that 2,000 euros were given to prisoners in financial aid and another 2,000 euros in kind through clothing and other items.

There are some good points in this white paper.
However there are other which are terrible to say the least
You can break the parole conditions and yet you will still be free
You can also apply for parole more then once.
We need to protect the society and not criminals.

Help the victim not the criminal.... they are given enough chances before they are sent to prison (suspended sentences etc.).... these loads of 'saints' helping everyone out are doing more harm than good...... let's protect the real victims not these 'fake' victims who ruin others people's lives for greed.

So the criminals will be given a second chance. What about the victims? The last thing that our country needs are criminals in the streets, knowing that if they make a mistake there is always a second chance.

The heading is misleading. I do not agree with the Parole principle. @ Mr Malcolm Azzopardi - for a prisoner to end up in jail he/she would have already used his first, second, third and possibly forth chance at this rate. So why the Parole? Seems like we are turning the true principles upside down. We hear so much about the prisoners' rights and so little about the victims' pain, loss, sufferrings etc etc.....

now we all hope that if the parole is introduced,it will serve as a good cause by giving a second chance, not it will serve for criminals to be back on our streets again
