The former Labour MP who last year gave up his seat in Parliament to allow Joseph Muscat to be co-opted and eventually become Leader of the Opposition yesterday formally launched his electoral campaign leading to the European Parliament election in June.
Speaking at the campaign launch last night, Joseph Cuschieri said it was Dr Muscat who had encouraged him to continue making use of his political experience in the interest of the country.
"With great humility," he said, "I feel proud that I've done all I could, believe me, truly all I could, so that a new political season, much needed in our country, could start in the shortest time possible."
Mr Cuschieri said he would work with the same dedication, enthusiasm and seriousness as Dr Muscat, pledging "to remain the people's, with the people and for the people".
Indeed, the main theme of his campaign is The Voice Of The Worker In Europe.
