Omission on Sir Paul Boffa monument
It is a shame that the pedestal on which stands the monument to Sir Paul Boffa at Castille does not show that this one-time Prime Minister was accorded the title of Sir for his outstanding services to Malta spanning about 40 years.
Sir Paul Boffa is still mentioned with profound respect by any in the older age group for his outstanding qualities, honesty, amiable character and the sensible legislation he was involved in. His contribitions to emancipate our people, his foresight, his professional medical work for the poor, the needy, lepers and others during the hard times of the last war, when our island was suffering the horrendous bombing and terrible starvation diet, are still remembered.
In 1949, when he visited our school at Floriana with the then Minister of Education Godwin Ganado, he stressed to us teachers to keep in mind the Christian values of life and that our Catholic faith should be protected in every possible way.

i did not say that they are foreign titles. so those who lamented about foreign titles should be ashamed of themselves. Sir Paul Boffa deserved his title as Sir, which was an honour granted by the UK to this son of Malta for services rendered during the war. He desrved such a high honour, and not because we are a republic. In fact in all publications he is named as Sir. So sour grapes to the other contributors for trying to belittle this man of honour..

There is no room for royal titles in a republic. The great man will not diminished by the omission of his Colonial British title; his Malteseness would be tarnished by its inclusion.
As the first human being to touch me (he actually delivered me), I have kept an interest in his impact on Maltese history. From what I understand, he would relish the Malta of today.

That is a foreign title and an outdated one. What need is for titles or medals anyway?. It's all baloney.

all monuments pertaining to former prime minsiters are set according to established protocol. so there is not need to add anything to the marble plaque attached to it like all the others are.
