SmartCity Malta has 'ambitious growth plans'
SmartCity Malta had ambitious growth plans for the development of its ICT and media cluster in Malta, CEO Claudio Grech said.
He said intensive market research conducted by SmartCity Malta confirmed that it was ideally positioned to attract a wide range of players in the targeted industries of ICT and media.
Mr Grech was speaking when renewing the Malta Journalism Awards' sponsorship for the e-journalism category.
This is the third year running that SmartCity Malta is sponsoring the Malta Journalism Awards organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IĠM).
Mr Grech noted that journalism and related new media activities were a good strategic fit for SmartCity Malta. The sponsorship formed part of SmartCity Malta's commitment to encourage and contribute towards the development of talent in knowledge-based sectors, he added.
IĠM chairman Malcolm J. Naudi said that, with its stated aim of developing and managing a knowledge industry township in Malta serving the entire region and as a gateway to the European Union, it was fitting that SmartCity Malta should agree to renew its sponsorship of the e-journalism category of the 2009 Malta Journalism Awards.

I have just watched on Euronews, about a business park in Hungary which has been abandoned and left unfinished, through lack of interest in leasing the office space therein. So how does "Smart (?) City" intend to do otherwise?
