Striker Michael Mifsud scored one of the goals for Barnsley last night as they came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at home.
Shefki Kuqi had given the visitors the lead after eight minutes but Barnsley, languishing perilously at the wrong end of the standings, hit back strongly and equalised with a Jamal Campbell-Ryce goal on 23 minutes.
A Lee Hills own goal put Barnsley ahead seven minutes after half-time and Mifsud sealed the points for the Tykes with an unstoppable shot 17 minutes from time.
Mifsud, who was also on the mark last week in a 1-1 draw against Birmingham, was replaced by Mounir El Haimour, one minute from time.
Daniel Bogdanovic, the other Malta international on Barnsley's books, started on the bench. He was introduced 15 minutes from time to replace the injured Jonathan Macken.
Thanks to the three points won, Barnsley leapfrogged Norwich City, N. Forest and Plymouth in the standings to move outside the drop zone.
