Employees at Carlo Gavazzi are on a four-day week in view of the current international economic situation.
The company designs and manufacturers electronic and electro-mechanical control components for the industrial automation market at its factory in Bulebel. It employs 200 workers.
The company said yesterday that orders have fallen drastically over the past few weeks.
The reduced working affects all the workers except the Product Development and the R&D departments where efforts are being intensified to launch new products on the market in a continuous efforts to generate new business, the company added.
Recently the government announced agreements with a number of companies offering them financial assistance to invest further and return to a normal working week.
Such agreements were concluded with Stainless Steel Products Ltd, O-rings producer Trelleborg and the switch-maker Methode Electronics.
