The House of Representatives will debate a motion for the election of a new President on April 1, the House Business Committee agreed this evening.

The new President will be sworn in at a special sitting of the House on April 4, when the term of President Eddie Fenech Adami expires.

Dr Fenech Adami is to be succeeded by George Abela after the government and the opposition agreed on his nomination.
