AD unveils slogan for June MEP elections

Energy, experience and Europe is the slogan chosen by Alternattiva Demokratika for the upcoming June European Parliament elections.

AD spokesman Ralph Cassar said the green party had the energy and will to represent the thousands of Maltese who wanted a better quality of life through strengthening EU legislation. AD would work for legal recognition of couples whose marriage had failed and would push for divorce legislation and other civil rights, he said.

EP candidate and AD chairman Arnold Cassola pointed out that at the last EP elections in 2004, the party had collected 23,000 votes on the first count and 29,000 on the last count.

AD believed in participative democracy and consistently tried to represent local communities in EU institutions, he said.

DREAM ON ALEX SPITERI! The same old whining story which never comes true... Yawn! Real prgressives and forward looking people at long last. There are others who prefer parochial and provincial politics instead obviously....

@Charles Sammut You are not saying the truth and you know it. Lukily for you AD are not fans of libel suits, since what you said is blatant lies 1) Gay marriages - AD talks about civil unions of both homo and heterosexual couples, different from marriage 2) Gay's adopting children - Where? Quote me one line where AD mentioned that 3)Migrants voting - Where? Same as above 4) What brainwashing children at schools are you talking about?

Charles Sammut You are right. Thanks but no thanks AD.

The AD was the only party talking about green jobs and asking the government to introduce alternative resources many years ago. If the government listened to what the AD said, today we would have a better Malta. Hope that AD makes it this time!!

Civil rights is a euphemism for gay marriage, adoption of children by gay couples, Maltese citizenship and voting rights for illegal immigrants, brainwashing of children at schools and so on. No thanks.

Dream on Alex Spiteri.... I've been hearing your sentence for the last 10 years....and from people who's prophecies are usually more credible than yours. Yet AD lives on. The core of AD is made up of much tougher stuff than you can ever dream of. And as long as there is a need for a real "left" in Malta....as long as there is one environmental battle to fight for....as long as bipartisan politics keeps dominating our little beloved islands....there will be scope for the existence of AD. Electoral results count little....in this perspective. Just one more question......why do you hate AD so much ? Does it maybe strike you where it hurts? What would you achieve by your wished demise of AD ? Long live AD. For the umpteenth time they will have my vote. I know that I will not be able to hoot my horn the day after the results are announced, but for four and a half years in 5, I know that I'm smarter than those which would have been promised heaven on earth, and left with nothing but a vague feeling of cheat and empty promises.

@Alex Spiteri AD has proved its credibility over it's 20 years carreer. The main parties, especially the PN but not exclusively have done anything possible (albeit unethical) to keep AD out of parliament. WHo knows why? Maybe cause they know AD will oppose corruption or laws that are harmful to the environment or our civil rights? Apart from that there actually is n0 other alternative. I definitely don't consider AN as an alternative since it is a single issue party. Politicians need to take a variety of decisions and while it is acceptable that a particular party focuses more on a specific area (ex AD - environment) it shouldn't be blind to any other thing. All AN does is criticise on one single issue and propose things that people want to hear, even if they are impossible to implement. With all due respect, the other small parties such as Alleanza Liberali are not an alternative cause they are too small, have little or no access to the media and people find it hard to connect with them.
Alex Spiteri (on 16/3/09)
The next MEP elections will be ‘the nail in the coffin’ for the Greens...whatever slogan they use!

Malta deserves a valid alternative to MLPN, but surely AD doesn't fit the status!
