The Vodafone Malta Foundation has invested over €641,000 in social projects over the past two years, according to Vodafone Malta's second corporate responsibility report.

The report, which covers April 2006 to March 2008, reviews the company's corporate behaviour on socio-economic, ethical and environmental practices. As part of its ongoing CSR activities, Vodafone Malta Foundation recently organised a Foundation's Day during which 100 employees across the company dedicated their time to activities at Mater Dei and a cleaning initiative at the Fra Ben area in Qawra.

"We have invested over €641,700 in our society, supporting projects in culture and heritage, the environment, education and health during these last two years," Vodafone Malta Foundation chairman Ġemma Mifsud Bonnici explained. "Our aim is to continue our work in order to share the benefits of development in mobile technology to promote social inclusion."

The seven-part report gives detailed information on Vodafone's corporate responsibility objectives, mobile phone base stations and health, statistics on Vodafone's network rollout, Vodafone's extension to communication access with its responsible marketing strategies, the responsible management of environment and social matters in Vodafone's supply chain, Vodafone's ongoing handset recycling activity and the Vodafone People Strategy, which defines the relationship between Vodafone and its people.

"While the public may be aware of some of our initiatives like handset recycling, there are others that we carry out daily that few people know about," Vodafone Malta chief executive officer Inaki Berroeta pointed out. "We would like such reports to serve as a tool to improve dialogue with the relevant stakeholders. This will help us to review our current efforts and set our future corporate responsibility targets."

The report has been sent to a number of Vodafone Malta's stakeholders, including health officials and NGOs. For a copy call for free on 247 from a Vodafone or 9999 9247 from any other line. Alternatively, visit a Vodafone store.
