"In tough economic times, one should invest and prepare for when times are better," Transport and Communications minister Austin Gatt said at the inauguration of new trucks by Express Trailers Ltd - an investment of about €400,000.
Over the past years, the company has been investing to upgrade its fleet to continue to serve the Maltese industry and economy on European roads. The new Volvo Power-Trains are Euro 5 compliant, another step towards fewer emissions and fuel efficiency.
Jonathan Vella, director, Business Relations, on behalf of Vella Brothers Group, of which Express Trailers forms part, said the new trucks mark a destination and a point of departure.
Thirty years ago, European borders represented a challenge, but the company's drive has transformed these into opportunities.
"The new trucks are an important resource. Encouraged by our achievements so far, we believe that continuous investment is important to maximise opportunities," Mr Vella said.
