Obituary

GIORGIO. On March 12, RICHARD W., aged 65, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Ita, his daughter Roberta and her husband Martin Borg, his sons Paul and fiancée Tasha Vella, Mark, his sister Maud and her husband Alex Eminyan, his brother Oliver and his wife Josephine, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.15 p.m. for the parish church of Mary Immaculate at Ta' l-Ibraġ where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

SANT. On March 13, at St Jeanne Antide Ward, Attard, MARIA, aged 91, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. Sadly missed by her only surviving sister Jane and her husband Emanuel Vella of America, her nephews, nieces and their spouses, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sta Venera parish church followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal life.

GAUCI MAISTRE. In loving memory of MARIE ROSETTE, tomorrow being the third anniversary of her death. Fondly remembered by her brothers, sisters-in-law, nephew and nieces. Tomorrow's 11.30 a.m. Mass at St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of her soul. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

HOLLAND - ROSA. Treasured memories of a loving mother and grandmother, especially today the 36th anniversary of her demise. Always in our hearts and prayers. Connie, Anna, Peter, Claire and Roberta.

Permits for stalls

Hawkers who would like to set up a stall during St Gregory's feast in Marsaxlokk must apply at the local council between March 23 and April 9 from 8.15 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2 to 3.15 p.m. They must present an identification card, trade permit, tax certificate and, where applicable, photographs of the stall. Hawkers who set up a stall without the local council's permission will be ordered to immediately remove it.

Road closed

Bir Bal Street in Balzan, between Kannizzata Street and Valley Road, will be closed today between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic will be diverted through Kannizzata Street, Old Railway Road, St Aloysius Square and Valley Road.

The Archbishop's Curia has published an updated Ecclesiastical Directory of the Archdiocese. It is available at the Archbishop's Curia and the Catholic Institute in Floriana and from Media Centre bookshops.

Mint sets collection

A collection of mint sets of last year's nine stamp issues will be issued by Maltapost on Monday and will be available from all the company's branches and the Philatelic Bureau at 305, Qormi Road, Marsa.

Celtic music

Thanksgiving Mass

Thanksgiving Mass on the feast of St Joseph the Worker will be said at St Paul's Home in Ħamrun on Thursday at 5 p.m. The event is organised by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Archaeological finds

Ventotene, one of the most beautiful islands of the Pontino archipelago, will be the subject of a talk by Annalisa Zarattini from the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Lazio at the Italian Cultural Institute, in Valletta on Monday at 6.30 p.m. The island served as an outpost where various Roman emperors exiled those who fell out of favour. The theme of the talk will be Ventotene: La Terra E Il Mare, Nuove Ricerche Archeologiche (Ventotene: The Land And The Sea, New Archaeological Research). Entrance is free.

Mental health conference

A conference on the children of mentally ill parents will be held at Robert Samut Hall in Floriana on March 27 between 8.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. It is organised by the Mental Health Association. For more information visit www.antidemalta.com.
