Obituary

CESAREO. On March 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA VITTORIA, of St Julians, aged 93, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Marlene and her husband Robert Naudi and Tony and his wife Doris, her grandchildren Gordon and his wife Yuko, Noreen and Tom and Sonya and Jeremy, her great-grandson Nicholas, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.45 a.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

DEMICOLI. On March 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY, aged 61, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Yolanda, his daughters Audrey and her husband Jesmon, Yvette and her husband Onyx, his granddaughters Francesca and Giulia, his brothers and sisters and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for St Anne parish church, Marsascala, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. followed by interment at San Girgor Cemetery, Żejtun. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Nazareth, Żejtun, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Spring fete

Din l-Art Ħelwa is appealing for items it can sell in a fund-raising spring fete on April 26 at the Garden of Rest in Msida. Items can be dropped off on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 9.30 a.m. and noon at the garden's museum.

Funds collected will be used to maintain and upgrade the garden, which is accessed by taking the second turning on the left below the public library on Great Siege Road, Floriana.

Iceland and the EU

Baldur Porhallsson, a professor in history at the University of Iceland, will deliver a lecture organised by the Islands and Small States Institute on whether Iceland should join the European Union.

It will be held tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Gateway Building, Hall D1 at the University of Malta.

Jesus of Nazareth feast

The titular feast of Jesus of Nazareth will be celebrated in Sliema on Friday. Holy Rosary will recited at 6.15 p.m. followed by Mass led by Archbishop Paul Cremona and a pilgrimage along Tignè seafront.

Environment seminar

An environmental seminar called Scubed Goes Green will be held between March 20 and 22, organised by the Science Students' Society.

Origins of life

A lecture on the origins of life will be delivered on March 17 at 6 p.m. in the Physics Department's Lecture Room 401 at the University of Malta.
