Camilleri still hitting the headlines

Steve Camilleri, the Neptunes player contracted with the Italian Serie A1 side Rari Nantes Bogliasco, is still putting up impressive displays for his team from Genova.

Despite playing superbly at the core of his coach's tactical plan the previous week against Latina, he drew an unusual scoring blank in the 9-6 victory on the day.

But the Maltese player was back on target with a bang when netting a poker of goals in Bogliasco's win over seventh-placed Lazio last Saturday.

He was quoted in a section of the Italian media as the "convincing Camilleri who opened his team's scoring account" against the side from Rome.

The four goals helped the Maltese player consolidate his position as his team's top scorer with his tally going up to 36 goals from 19 league outings.

This is a remarkable scoring rate, given the high quality game being played in Italy where most of the world's elite ply their trade.

In fact, Camilleri ranks fourth among the foreigners in the scorers' list and 11th overall.

Currently RN Bogliasco are lying ninth in the 12-team table, with their next league match against SP Energia Catania being considered an important encounter in their bid to avoid the bottom two places and eventually the drop.
