Suspended jail term for death threat

A 25-year-old man from Qormi was this morning given a nine-month jail term suspended for two years after pleading guilty of threatening to shoot a man.

Etienne Pace admitted he had threatened to shoot Jason Zammit in the head following an argument in Michael's Bar at around 9 p.m. on Sunday.

As soon as Mr Pace left the bar, Mr Zammit went to the Qormi police station to lodge a report telling the police that Mr Pace had gone to get his gun. The police went to the bar where they found Mr Pace with a semi-automatic shotgun.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera warned Mr Pace that he now had Damocles' sword over his head and would go to prison if he committed another crime.
