George Galdes, 31 of Msida, today pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his brother Mario in Msida yesterday night.

He allegedly stabbed him in the stomach with scissors.

Defence lawyer Michael Sciriha told a court during the arraignment that the accused had been sleeping at home when his brother went in drunk, at 2 a.m. and tried to wake up his mother to warm up his food for him.

The accused heard a commotion, woke up and told his brother to leave their mother alone. The argument then escalated.

Dr Schriha pointed out that the victim was five times the size of the accused. He said the two were not arguing any more and were not angry with each other.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera granted Mr Galdes bail against a personal guarantee of €3,000.
