A 30-year-old man was yesterday remanded in custody in Gozo after pleading not guilty to charges of trafficking and possessing cocaine throughout last year.

Mario Cardona of Victoria was held in custody after Magistrate Paul Coppini took into consideration that there were witnesses still to be heard.

The police, acting on a tip-off, had conducted a search of his home which turned out to be negative.

However, the arraignment was made on the basis of other evidence, including his statement to the police.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.

Lawyer Kevin Mompalao appeared for Mr Cardona.
