BEZZINA. On March 8, at her residence, JOAN née Caruana, aged 88, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Emmy, Victor, Mario, Anthony and his wife Sonia and Charles, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Eden and Razzett Foundation will be appreciated.

GATT. On March 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMEN, known as Lina, aged 85, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Stephen and his wife Alice and Mark and his wife Pauline, her sisters Mai Saunders and Rosemarie Agius, her brother Albert Agius and his wife Phyllis, her grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. at the Balluta parish church, followed by interment at the Burmarrad Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

TRIGANZA. On March 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, CHARLES, aged 73, of Sliema, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Lina, his children Martin and his wife Judie, Adrian and his wife Marthese, Stephen and his wife Marika, and Johan and his wife Helga, his dearest grandchildren Jordan, Jessica, Adam, Keeley, Siane, Thomas, Dana, Kyra and Liam, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1 p.m. for San Ġwann parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to charity will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

Metropolitan Chapter

Pro-vicar general Fr Anton Gouder was nominated canon of the Metropolitan Chapter by Archbishop Paul Cremona. The chapter is made up of 30 canons and divided in two parts, one at the Mdina Cathedral and another at St John's Co-Cathedral.

Prayer evening

A prayer evening for peace and evangelisation is being organised by the International Movement of Prayer Blessed Pope John XXIII. It will take place on March 19 between 6 and 7 p.m. in the basement chapel of Sarria Church, Floriana.

Seminar on dialect

The Żejtun local council will hold a seminar on dialect on March 15, between 9.30 a.m. and noon at its offices in Dar iż-Żwieten, 28, St Angelo Street, Żejtun.

Plays at Catholic Institute

The Catholic Institute will be receiving applications from theatrical companies for the allocation of performances for the next season. They have to be submitted by March 30 together with the play's script and a censors' certificate.
