New MMA chief executive officer

Stanley Portelli has been appointed chief executive officer of the Malta Maritime Authority.

Dr Portelli has eight years' experience within the maritime industry. Apart from holding the position of executive director for Human Resources, Legal and Corporate Affairs within Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd, he was on the board of directors for the same organisation until 2004.

Between 2004 and 2008, he was director of Mimcol and Malta Government Investments Ltd. He was appointed member of the Port Workers Board representing Malta Freeport Terminals in 2007. In 2008 he was a member of the Board of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.
