Rugby Union
Former Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan will be in charge of the United States through the World Cup in 2011. Irish-born O'Sullivan was Eagles' assistant coach before taking over Ireland and leading them to three Triple Crowns in four years from 2004 to 2007.
Badminton
Yonex will continue sponsoring the All England tournament until 2014. The latest five-year deal will bring the partnership to 31 years, a record for a same title sponsor in British sport. Badminton England chief executive Adrian Christy said: "Next year's championships will be the 100th and I am delighted that the extension to our current deal with Yonex will start with us celebrating this great milestone."
Cycling
German Stefan Schumacher has been suspended for two years from all cycling after failing a dope test during the 2008 Tour de France. Schumacher was banned from competing in France for two years by the French Anti-Doping agency (AFLD) last month.
Olympics
United States Olympic Committee chief executive Jim Scherr resigned on Thursday. Stephanie Streeter, a member of the USOC board of directors, will take over on an interim basis. No reasons were given for the decision but Scherr's sudden departure comes at a time when USOC is struggling to maintain sponsors in a withering economy and pushing hard to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago.
