The government failed to give a serious account of the its work during a news conference in the morning and the Prime Minister opted not to mention electoral promises which had not been implemented or were shelved.

Dr Gonzi did not say anything about burdening the people with the water and electricity bills. He was now proving that the Labour Party had been right when it said that things could have been done better. However, he did not say if the bills’ revision was to be backdated.

The Prime Minister, the PL said, only made a slight reference to illegal migration and the EU Migration Pact without saying how many immigrants had been taken on by EU countries as a result of this pact.

He also failed to say anything about the tourism sector, which was in recession. The Prime Minister chose to mention last year’s records without putting the minds of those whose livelihood depended on the sector at rest.

The people, the PL said, had also expected an explanation as to how the government had lost control of public finances.

It criticised Dr Gonzi for being weak when he spoke on the health sector especially when it came to waiting lists. He also failed to refer to the shelved promised projects of the Crafts Village and the Cirkewwa terminal, the PL accused.
