More Tunisian migrants repatriated
Another group of 10 Tunisian migrants has been repatriated, a spokesman for the Ministry of Home Affairs said today.
The migrants arrived in Malta on February 1 but repatriation could not take place quickly because official documents from Tunis were arriving in small batches, the spokesman said.
Another eight Tunisians were deported last week, but about 60 are still in detention in Safi.

It seems that it you who represents what you call the uncommon Maltese people. Perhaps that should be "rare" because Maltese people who are neutral to the illegal immigration problem are indeed rare.
Isn't it amusing how some individuals proclaim democracy when The People's decision corresponds to their wishes and shriek "Mob Rule" when The People's decision goes against them.

And she's right. No one speaks for the "uncommon Maltese people", because the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The "uncommon Maltese people" who, like you, do not care whether the immigrants come or go to and from our islands, most probably are somehow not affected by the illegal immigrants. The "common Maltese people", like me, ARE affected by the illegal immigrants, so yes, if Louise Vella shares the common sentiment then she can be the spokesperson for us! Kindly refrain from being rude to patriots. The "uncommon Maltese people", as you so affectionately refer to them, do not need an external voice. They have one for themselves, and boy, are they willing to air their ignorant views! Seeing as I live in Birzebbugia, you can hardly tell me that I am prejudiced, or a xenophobe, or the other pathetic excuses the bleeding hearts use to get their points across. It does make a difference to me, thus I have the right to complain. That's what she meant by the common Maltese people.

The number of Tunisian illegals roaming our streets probably exceeds the the number of those repatriated...

Please take note that Louise Vella is now the spokesperson for "the common Maltese people." And who speaks for the uncommon Maltese people?

Am I right in my calculations?
262 arrived of which 35 Egyptians then 8 Tunisians then another 10 Tunisians have been repatraited, i.e. 35 + 8 +10 = 53
that leaves 262 - 53 = 209 still in Malta.
The press release of 1 february said more than half (131) qualified for repatriation.
The common Maltese people would like no illegal immigrants to arrive and if they arrive they would like them all to be repatraited.

How come we accept these illegals without any documents, and their own country drags its feet to take them back by delaying their official documents?

Carmel Borg: this information is issued so that people like you and me are kept informed. I don't know about you but I celebrate neither when immigrants arrive nor when they leave.

And how many are on the loose?

Apparently the delay this time is due to the Tunisian authorities dragging their feet in issuing travel documents to their citizens who came to Malta illegally.
This is absolutely shameful on the Tunisians who will react very forcefully should anyone enter their territory without permission. Yet when their own citizens are involved, they issue the necessary papers in dribs and drabs.
So let's be fair this time round and apportion blame accordingly.

As always the repatriations are just a drop in the ocean. Tonio Borg told us this week that the vast majority of the illegals who reached our shores (last few years) have been repatriated. Does anyone believe him?????????????????????????????

How very thrilled we are with this latest news. Two hundred arrive and we should celebrate because a few are sent back. We do not want any illegal immigrants on our island. That is what the great majority of the Maltese want and the government is elected to reflect what the majority wants. Is this not written in the constitution of Malta?
PN act now before it is too late for your government.
