Toldo: Former Italy goalkeeper Francesco Toldo signed a new deal that will keep him at Inter until June 2011. The 37-year-old has been at Inter since 2001 although he has played understudy to Brazilian Julio Cesar in recent years.

Arshavin: New Arsenal striker Andrei Arshavin says he is struggling to cope with the demands of English football after playing his first full 90 minutes in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Fulham. "Even before the end of the first half I felt as if I had spat my lungs out," the Russian said. "I am not physically strong enough yet to play the whole match."

Kaladze: Milan and Georgia defender Kakha Kaladze will be out for the rest of the season with a knee problem. "Kaladze will almost certainly be operated on Tuesday (yesterday) and the season is over for him," chief executive Adriano Galliani said.

Bayern Munich: Holders Bayern Munich will have defender Philipp Lahm and striker Luca Toni sidelined for today's German Cup quarter-final against Bayer Leverkusen. However, Lahm (flu) and Toni (foot injury) should be fit for the league match against Hanover 96 on Saturday, coach Juergen Klinsmann told a news conference.

Spalletti: Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has received a one-match ban for bitterly criticising the fourth match official following Sunday's thrilling 3-3 draw at leaders Inter. Sports judge Gianpaolo Tosel handed down the ban after finding Spalletti had used "an insulting and provocative expression" to the official. Roma will additionally have to cough up an €8,000 fine after some of their fans chanted abuse at Inter striker Mario Balotelli.

Cycling: Seven-times Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong is set to race for the first time with team-mate and rival Alberto Contador of Spain when he takes part in this month's Tour of Castilla y Leon. Armstrong's participation in the Spanish race means, however, that the American will miss the Criterium International on March 28-29 and therefore will not race in France before the Tour in July. Contador, who won the 2007 Tour and last year's Giro and Vuelta, and Armstrong were not supposed to race together before the Tour de France in July. Last month, the Spaniard asked to race with Armstrong before the Tour to "test the team's unity".

Boxing: British former Olympic boxing champion Chris Finnegan has died aged 64. The former bricklayer won middleweight gold at the 1968 Games in Mexico after beating Aleksey Kiselyov of the Soviet Union in the final. Finnegan won British, Commonwealth and European titles at light-heavyweight in his professional career but lost a world championship bout against America's Bob Foster in London in 1972.

Tennis: World number 14 David Nalbandian has been ruled out of Argentina's Davis Cup first-round tie against the Netherlands in Buenos Aires with a virus, team captain Modesto Vasquez announced yesterday. 'King David', as he's known in his home country, was the figurehead of an Argentine team also containing Juan Monaco, Juan Ignacio Chela and doubles specialist Lucas Arnold Ker. They play the Netherlands at the Parque Roca claycourt arena between Friday and Sunday.

Basket, NBA: LeBron James won his personal duel with Dwyane Wade in helping the Cleveland Cavaliers rally for a 107-100 win over the Miami Heat, the showdown between the NBA's top scorers highlighting an enthralling encounter. James lies second behind Wade in the individual scoring standings but was able to outscore his rival by a single point with a 42-point haul. The win pushed the Cavaliers (47-12) a game ahead of the Boston Celtics for the Eastern Conference lead. Miami (31-28) remain fifth.
