An intricate sculpture of a samurai warrior created completely from fat has won Maltese chef Christopher Zammit the Works in Fat competition at a Hospitality Show held at the NEC in Birmingham.
Mr Zammit, who works for Camilleri Caterers, is 28 years old.
The BBC reported that the freestanding warrior, which is 76 cm wide, was made from solid commercial chef's pastry fat. He created the model using his hands and a paintbrush.
The Maltese chef has won more than 30 fat sculpting competitions around the world, including one in Malta.
The contest was sponsored by a catering supplier as part of the Salon Culinaire, which included masterpieces created from sugar, chocolate and fat.
It was judged on creativity, workmanship, degree of difficulty and presentation.
