The environmental group Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar has expressed its satisfaction over the decision by St John Co-Cathedral Foundation to finally drop the application for the extension of St John's Cathedral museum and thanked all those who showed their support.

The underground extension was meant to house artefacts that adorn the Cathedral museum, including a world unique set of 29 Flemish tapestries, leading the government to call off the project.

Yesterday, The Times reported that the St John's Co-Cathedral Foundation has withdrawn the two planning applications for the extension.

In a statement, the FAA said it would prefer to see the funds going to a deserving tourism-oriented project that would possibly regenerate a depressed area, create employment and attract much needed tourists.
