The Federation for Hunting and Conservation - Malta (FKNK) believes that the launch by BirdLife (Malta) of the Malta Breeding Bird Atlas 2008 forms part of their present ongoing campaign to abolish the traditional socio-cultural passion and way of life of Maltese trappers. It is also noted that, as in most other BirdLife documents, events, projects, etc, the main sponsor is again the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs.

FKNK's evaluation of BirdLife's critique regarding Malta's trapping effect on breeding birds can be viewed at: http://www.huntinginmalta.org.mt/uploads/24/542/Critique_of_Birdlife_Malta_Briefing_Document__New.pdf .
