Hibs Medsea extend perfect run

Leaders Hibs Medsea maintained their perfect run after beating nearest rivals Depiro McDonald's.

Ergon Projects Luxol stayed third in the table after a victory over St James Hospital while Honey Athleta overcame Empire Cinema Stunners.

Hibs bagged their 11th victory after overpowering Depiro in the final session. The match had a slow start with Hibs ending the first quarter 8-1 ahead. Depiro improved slightly but their efforts failed to trouble Hibs who changed ends 23-14 up.

Rachel Camilleri, the joint-leading scorer in the women's championship, tried to inspire a Depiro comeback but their hopes were dashed in the last 10 minutes as Hibs raced to a 64-27 win.

Luxol kept up their challenge for second place after defeating St James 56-48. After conceding the first basket, Luxol, egged on by top-scorer Emma Moore, took control to forge 34-22 ahead.

St James narrowed the gap to five points in the third quarter but their rally was halted as Luxol reeled off eight consecutive points.

Athleta left Stunners rooted to the bottom of the table and still searching for their first victory.

After surging to a 21-5 lead, Athleta went in for the break 34-17 ahead. Hard as they tried, Stunners could not turn the tide as Athleta easily wrapped up the points, 66-46.
