Solidarity with mayor

Stefan Buontempo, Labour's spokesman on local councils, yesterday expressed solidarity with the deputy mayor of Pembroke, Alfred Mazzitelli, after his car was vandalised.

Sources said the vandals made scratches on the councillor's car and wrote vulgar words on it.

Dr Buontempo said councillors worked voluntarily for their localities at great personal sacrifice. Such cowardly acts shamed those who carried them out and would not intimidate the victims.
