Six Tunisian migrants escaped from Safi detention centre last night.

Informed sources said four were quickly recaptured, three by officers of the Detention Service and another by the AFM. A search is continuing for the other two.

The sources said the Tunisians were part of a group of over 70 who arrived in Malta on February 1 when they had intended to go to Italy. The Tunisians are awaiting repatriation, but the process has been delayed because of the late receipt of official documents from Tunis. Eight Tunisians have so far been repatriated.
