The Malta Table Football International Open was held last weekend at the Maria Assunta Secondary School in Ħamrun. The tournament comprised four categories, namely Open, Veteran, Under-19 and Under-15.

Although the turn-out was lower than expected, 15 players entered the Open tournament.

Derek Conti was the winner of the Open title. He needed a golden goal to beat Joe Mifsud after the score at the end of normal time was 1-1. The semi-finalists were Mark Gauci and Joe Borg Bonaci.

The Under-19 tournament featured seven players who were split into two groups, one with four players and the other with three.

After the group phase, Angelo Borg and Nicholas Sciberras progressed to the final after beating Darren Bezzina (2-1) and Adam Gatt (1-0) in their respective semi-finals.

The final was dominated by Borg who had the better of Sciberras with a 2-0 scoreline.

In the Under-15 section, four players faced each other on a round-robin format. Darren Bezzina topped the group with maximum points. Angelo Borg was second. In the Veteran category, Joe Mifsud captured his second international title after a 6-0 win over Joe Zammit Pavia in the final.
