I own a 1600 cc car which I bought in 2001. Last year, I paid €104.80 for my car licence; this year I paid €147. This additional tax of €42.20 (to safeguard the environment?) alone neutralised my cost of living wage increase of €4.08 a week for approximately 10 weeks. Moreover, my car licence is set to increase every year by €5, €6 or €7 up to a maximum of €200 after 18 years.

The government should revise these unjust increases in car licences especially for low wage earners and pensioners.
