Maltapost: Tracking indeed!
Much has been said about the inefficiency of Maltapost, and I must add my bit.
On February 20, I posted a registered parcel to my son in Cyprus, which I was told I could track online.
I checked its status last Monday and found a symbol for which I needed clarification. To my amazement, Maltapost now inform me that the parcel is tracked till it leaves Malta and that if the country it is flown to chooses not to track it then they have no control over that.
Should that happen, all they can do is institute an investigation a month later! Of course, nothing about this is explained to you beforehand, which would allow you to decide for yourself whether to risk living in limbo for a month. Shame on Maltapost.

Erm, not to be a pain, but even royal mail does the same thing. whenever I order from the UK, they give me the tracking until it has left the UK for Malta, updating the status as " Your package has has left for MALTA " or something similar, and thats it. ( Although, when I ordered from the US, the tracking even informed that the package was into the Maltese customs! )
So let's not blame Maltapost for everything ;)

To your amazement?
Amazed by what?
If the destination country refuses to track the object, what exactly do you expect Maltapost to do?
Emply an army of futuristic drones?
In an era when globalisation is mentioned all the time, do you think Maltapost's performance is also dependent on foreign mail services?

My son ordered and paid for a carnival costume from abroad through internet in mid-January. The parcel was dispatched on the 6th. February. Maltapost delivered yesterday (28-02-09). One week after Carnival, rendering the costume useless. The postwoman replied to our obvious question that the parcel had been left lying in the post office for somtime since they were too busy to keep up with the load of parcels. She went even further by informing us that they still have Christmas parcels still waiting to be delivered. How's that for efficiency at our Maltapost? A courtesy reply from the management would be appreciated.
