The National Library of Malta has announced the publication of volume 2 of Charles Frederick de Brocktorff: Watercolours of Malta at the National Library, Valletta.

The second in this two-volume series examines in detail 42 watercolours of Valletta such as St John’s Co-Cathedral, the Governor’s Palace, the Library and the Auberge de Castile.

The first volume, which won the prestigious National Book Award 2008, had featured Maltese rural landscapes and the social customs of the time. Its success led the staff and all others involved in the making of the publication to embark on the second volume with drive and enthusiasm in order to provide the Maltese public with another high-quality production, the Library said.
