JCR Ltd has filed a judicial protest against the government, holding it liable for damages following the change of plans on the upgrading of Ta' Qali Crafts Village.

The protest was filed in the First Hall of the Civil Court against the Prime Minister, the Minister for Finance, Malta Enterprise and the Commissioner of Lands.

The company said that it had entered into an agreement with the government to purchase a property at the Ta' Qali Crafts Village. The promise of sale agreement stipulated that Crafts Village was to be reconstructed and that the parties were aware that some inconvenience would be caused. However, despite previous declarations that the project was imminent, the government had announced that no funds were forthcoming and that the project would not take place as planned.

It was also announced that a Crafts Centre would be built at Cospicua.

JCR Ltd said that it had suffered damages as a result of this change and it called upon the authorities to make good these damages.
