Mrs. Alexandra Borg Olivier lived just around the corner from where I lived as a child and whenever I passed her house and she was out on the doorstep she would alwyas have kind words to say to me as a child and an adult.. One very sweet memory as a child was when I was asked to present a bouquet of flowers to her at a social function during her time as wife to the then Prime Minister George Borg Olivier - I felt so important at the tender age of four to carry out such an important role. She is now resting in her very deserved place in heaven.
My deep condolences to her loved ones

The death of Mrs Borg Olivier reminds me of one occasion when as President of PN Club Fgura, I had the honour to invite her for a special commemoration in honour of her late husband. The occasion was in connection with the official opening of PN Club Fgura, named in honour of George Borg Olivier in July 1991. She attended the event, accompanied by her son, Peter.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to her son, Peter and the all the Borg Olivier family.

"Behind every great man there is a woman" and she was with her husband - the father of Independent Malta - all through. May she rest in peace in harmony with her beloved husband, the great Dr Giorgio Borg Olivier.

Only yesterday I was watching "Bijografiji" featuring her late husband, and her son Peter mentioned a very sweet episode when a couple of months back Dom Mintoff visited her in her Sliema residence and she called him "pupu" and hugged each other.
Sad news for all Maltese regardless of one's political opinion, her husband George was well respected by all and many within the MLP used to describe him as a great gentleman and when he died sobbed as if it was from their own party.
May the Lord grant her eternal rest with her beloved husband

Politicians really lead a life of pain during their tenure of office. These is more cry than laugh.
George Borg Oliver was a statesman. He was calm and humble and achieved his ambitions not only for his honour but for his country. Waving the instruments of our Constitutuon on that faithful day was his great day.
All this could also be attributed to his wife Alexandra. The wife of a politician walks in the footsteps of her husband. When he suffers she endures his pain. When he achieves, she will rejoice.
Alexandra being the wife of a Prime Minister gave a lot as well to our country.
She deserves our prayers. My condolences to her sons and their families.
I will attend the funeral to give my last respect to the first lady for more than a decade in our political history.

Many Maltese do offer the family and relatives our condolences. Yes, only yesterday her son Peter was on a local programme being interviewed on the life of his Great Father and the former Prime Minister Dr. George Borg Olivier, the father of Malta Independent.
Mrs Alexandra Borg Olivier may now be laid to rest in peace on Friday 27th February 2009, but she should never be forgotten for after that great man of Malta's who gave us our land's independence from Colonial rule, yes she was that lady who gave her part as the wife of the Prime Minister with those who were more unfortunate. We all tell you "Thank you for your service" and for your support to that great [late] husband that gave the people of Malta the courage to walk alone on our two feet.
Thank you both again for this memorable date the 21st. Sept 1964. We will never forget you both and will always celebrate that day with our children and their children.
