Malta beaten 5-1 by Greece

Greece secured qualification to the next phase of the UEFA Championship after topping Group C in a mini-tournament which came to a close at the Corradino Sports Pavilion yesterday.

Greece chalked up their third victory from as many matches after beating Malta 5-1. Earlier in the week, the Greeks had beaten Albania 3-0 and Georgia 5-0 to underline their superiority in the group.

Xavier Saliba scored Malta's goal yesterday when the score was already 4-0 for Greece. The Maltese could have made the score look more respectable but fluffed a couple of clear chances to beat the opponents' keeper again.

In another match from Group C, second-placed Georgia beat Albania 3-0.
