British police have arrested a 16-year-old boy over the murder of a teenager stabbed to death in east London, Scotland Yard said today.

Michael Simon Wright, 17, was found with knife wounds opposite a railway station in Leyton late on Thursday and died shortly after being taken to hospital.

Police said they had also arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Wright was murdered only hours after another teenager, 19-year-old Kul Hawalied, was stabbed to death at a petrol station in Wealdstone in northwest London.
